Psst... Yes You... Act Like A Lady!

Hola,

Wow yet another post in a matter of a few days. I'm on a roll my fashionistas! Are you all lovin' it? I sure am. I feel like I'm finding my "blogging" groove.

So did everyone read my last post "Who Is This Blogger... AnnaCris?" I hope you did because I wrote it with the intention of letting you get a closer glimpse at me, my personality, my likes and dislikes and a little bit of my history. If you haven't read it, go ahead and check it out. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think. Perhaps you and I have something or a lot in common. You never know... ;)

So I'd like to dedicate this post to all the young ladies everywhere. Kind of like a message or better yet, let's say it's an appeal maybe even a plea to all of you to please ACT LIKE A LADY! Yes, this came about because of the recent "performance" of a certain young woman at an award show. Let's not even recap or judge at this point. I'm sure we've all seen it or heard about it. What's done is done. I'm going to focus on all those young ladies that are NOT celebrities. Celebrities can get away with many of the things they do for whatever reason. However, for those of us living in the regular world, it's a whole different ball game and you must take that into consideration before doing anything that you will regret. Remember you have no publicists or managers to smooth things over for you. You're basically on your own.

Think about your future. From this day forward I would ask you to please think twice before doing anything that can embarrass you just for the sake of getting attention. With the explosion of so many social media networks, it becomes so easy to put everything out there without stopping to think that once it's "put out there," it will be really hard to take it back. From videos to pictures to statuses... it's like a bombardment of information. The thing is, is that putting it all out there is not necessary. Not every video or picture should be posted and not everything that happens in your life should be written as a status or a tweet. Moderation seems to be fleeting in this day and age.

I get that you're young right now, feeling free and without a care in the world. However, pretty soon you will become a full grown adult with responsibilities. You will be looking for your first job or perhaps you've already found it and are hoping for a promotion. It is so easy for employers today to research your every move online. Don't help them find something unpleasant about you that you posted years before. This will weigh heavy on whether they will hire you or promote you. Maybe you would like to start your own business (once you're a successful business owner, your history will be researched so easily online) or how about wanting to find that great guy to marry and start a family with? How about your parents, grandparents and immediate family? Think about the horror they would feel if anything inappropriate of you gets onto the internet and they have to see it. Even more important, how will YOU feel if once you've posted anything of the sort, millions of people see it and they start to judge and criticize you? All these examples I just listed can be impacted by your impulsive actions of clicking that little button called "send" and nine times out of ten that impulsive action will have negative consequences that I'm positive you do not want.

Whether it's a picture, a video or the way you act in public places, I ask you to please always act like a lady. It's okay to have fun with your friends, take all the pictures you want just choose wisely before posting them. Even when you're out in public, remember anyone these days can stop and take your picture or take a video of your actions unbeknownst to you. There's a difference between having a crazy fun time with friends and family and acting up in public. Again, I ask you to think first and be mindful of your actions.

We all want attention at some point or at many points in our lives, especially during our teenage years. I get that, but make sure the attention you get is because you are amazing, because you are beautiful and confident, smart and sexy and taking on the world to make it better for you and maybe for others. There are so many ways to make people want to be around you that is not acting like... well you know. Why would you want that kind of focus on you? Why would you want that label that people will immediately put on you because of something they saw of or about you? Nah, I don't think that's the type of behavior you want to be known for because ultimately, it's not worth it. That one little incident can haunt you for a very long time so be conscious of what put out there. Don't sell the whole farm in one shot! Leave some things to the imagination. It will make you more alluring to those that are curious about you. Rather than seeing racy photos or videos of you and be turned off, they will approach you and get to know the real you. That's so much better my loves. Look ahead to your future and you will agree that it would be best in the long run to avoid that kind of negative attention.

Remember when it's all said and done, we all really want to be accepted, included and loved. Let's make it so that it comes to us in a good way. Let's make it so that we are remembered for being fabulous and classy not raunchy and.... well you know. It's never too late to act like a lady. Be confident, be respectful of yourself first and others will then respect you, be classy and tasteful. Trust me this is the kind of attention you should be looking for. It may not sound fun or exciting now because you're still growing and you want to be part of the crowd, but in your later years, this will matter. When you reach your late twenties and move onto your thirties, this will matter because then you will be certain that looking back there will be nothing online or anywhere of you that can embarrass you in the eyes of millions.

So there you have it my lovely young fashionistas, this in no way is a message telling you what you can and cannot do. Of course, you're free to do as you please. This is just a request, a plea from someone who sees how the lives of our young ladies are becoming so public in a damaging way by their own doing. Someone who would like all women to realize that the best attention they can get is the kind where someone looks at you and admires you for being fantastic, for handling your business, for acting with complete and total class regardless of how the people around you are conducting themselves, for being confident in yourself and what you have to offer, for being fabulous, for holding your head up high, having self-respect and for just acting like... A LADY!

As always, I ask you to join in the conversation. You all know the deal my darlings... please feel free to comment respectfully below with your agreements or disagreements. This has been THE topic of conversation everywhere this week so I would love your feedback. Let's talk. Go! #engage.

Once again, thank you for stopping my "Open Closet."

Until next time my loves...

Gracias,
AnnaCris <3
